Crywolf Fortress · every Saturday

Crywolf

Once a week Balgass marches his army on the fortress of Crywolf. At its heart stands the Wolf Statue, and only the Elves can protect it: they bind themselves to the five altars around it and the barrier lives as long as they do. Hold at least one altar through fifteen minutes of battle, break the Dark Elves' squads and kill Balgass himself before the clock runs out, and the whole server gets the reward until the next Saturday.

  1. 1

    Warnings

    20:00 to 20:05

    Everyone

    • Get to Crywolf: Move (M), Crywolf, level 300 and 2,700 Zen, or walk in from Valley of Loren. Crywolf is on the Castle Siege server; the move takes you there from any server.
    • Elves of level 260 or higher go to the altars around the Wolf Statue, in the middle of the fortress (121, 31).
    • Crywolf's own monsters still roam the map until 20:05.

In-game notice, to every server, at the start and every 70 seconds

    • Balgass has joined forces with the Kundun Army and is preparing to attack the fortress of Crywolf
  2. 2

    The Field Empties

    20:05 to 20:06

    The server

    • Every monster of the Crywolf map vanishes until the event is over.
    • The fortress loses its safe zone: from now until the end, nobody is safe in the town.

    In-game notice, to every server

    • The Balgass Army is ready to attack the fortress of Crywolf
  3. 3

    Altars Open

    20:06 to 20:08

    Elves, then everyone

    What you need

    • A Fairy Elf, Muse Elf or High Elf of level 260 or higher. Other classes can't bind an altar.
    • Not riding a Fenrir: the game refuses the contract on one.
    • Standing exactly on the altar's tile, the glowing circle.

    What happens

    • The altars are reset: a contract made before 20:06 is gone.
    • Balgass's army appears on its three fronts and waits. Until 20:08 nobody can hurt a monster in Crywolf.
    • Each Elf clicks her altar, confirms she will be the guardian and stands still for 5 seconds. The whole map is told who connected to which altar.
    • Bind as many of the five as you can. With no altar bound at 20:08, Crywolf falls at once.
    • Everyone's MVP score is set to zero.

In-game notice, to every server, at 20:06 and at about 20:07:10

    • The Balgass Navy is marching to the fortress of Crywolf
    • The Balgass Army will attack in 50 seconds (s)
  4. 4

    The Battle

    20:08 to 20:13

    Everyone

    • Twelve Dark Elves lead their squads towards the fortress from Fronts A, B and C. The six Tankers stay where they are and shell fixed spots.
    • Every army monster that dies scores for the player who dealt it the most damage, not the last hit. The field monsters don't count, and there are none now.
    • A Dark Elf heals itself and its squad and calls back its fallen soldiers: bring the Dark Elves down first. The army never respawns.
    • The screen shows the five altars, the Dark Elves left (Dark Elf n / 12) and the battle clock.
    • Die and you come back at the entrance on the east side (229 to 239, 37 to 46), a long way from the statue.

In-game notice, the first to every server, the kills to the map

    • The Balgass Navy is approaching the fortress of Crywolf
    • Dark Elf [group] was killed by [name]!
  5. 5

    The Rush

    20:13 to 20:18

    Everyone

    • The army changes its orders: the Dark Elves go for the altars and the statue.
    • Keep the bound Elves alive. The statue can't be attacked: its barrier is the sum of the bound Elves' HP. If the last bound altar is lost, Crywolf falls.
    • A lost altar can be bound again after 10 seconds, but each altar takes only two contracts a night.

    In-game notice, to the map

    • Balgass's army began attacking the statue of the sacred wolf
  6. 6

    Balgass

    20:18 to 20:23

    Everyone

    • Balgass appears at 110, 79, behind Front A, and walks to the statue (121, 36). His HP bar shows on the screen.
    • 9,990,000 HP and hits of 81,900 to 87,100. He has no skills on ThunderMU.
    • Kill him before 20:23: the battle ends at once and the fortress is held.
    • His eight weapons and 50 Goblin Points go to the player who dealt him the most damage.

In-game notice, to the map: when he comes, then when he dies

    • Balgass is coming! Protect the statue of the sacred wolf
    • Balgass was killed by [name]!
    • Balgass's army was defeated with the help of the heroes
  7. 7

    Results

    20:23 to 20:23:15

    The server

    • Won: Balgass is dead. Lost: he lived to 20:23, the last altar was lost, or none was bound at 20:08.
    • Every Elf still bound gets 6,000 more MVP points.
    • Everyone in Crywolf gets an MVP rank and experience, win or lose (a tenth on a loss).
    • For these 15 seconds nobody can hurt a monster.

In-game notice, the win or the two lines of a loss, then your own rank and experience

    • The defense was successful! The statue of the sacred wolf was protected
    • Balgass will be alive until the end of the battle
    • The defense failed! The statue of the sacred wolf was taken by Balgass

    Rewards

    20:23:15 to 20:23:25

    The server

    • The army leaves and Crywolf's own monsters come back.
    • The five best scores are shown as the heroes of Crywolf.
    • On a win, a Jewel of Bless drops at the feet of every Elf still bound and of each of the five heroes; an Elf who is both gets two. Pick it up.
    • Until the next Saturday the result holds for the whole server: see the rewards below.

Binding an altar

  1. 1Be an Elf of level 260 or higher, off any Fenrir, between 20:06 and the end of the battle.
  2. 2Step onto the altar's own tile, the middle of the glowing circle, and click the altar.
  3. 3Confirm that you will be the guardian. Then stand still: after 5 seconds the altar is bound to you.
  4. 4Stay there. Moving even one cell, dying, leaving the map, a warp or a disconnect breaks the contract.
  5. 5Fight from where you stand: a bound Elf can't be knocked back. Heal, buff and shoot without stepping off.

The rules of the altars

  • One Elf per altar, five altars.
  • An altar takes two contracts a night. When the second one breaks, that altar is dead until next Saturday.
  • After a contract breaks, nobody can bind that altar for 10 seconds.
  • Every Elf still bound when the battle ends gets 6,000 MVP points and, on a win, a Jewel of Bless.

The statue

  • Nobody can attack the Wolf Statue. Its barrier, the "Life of the statue", is the HP of the bound Elves added up.
  • The fight is for the Elves: lose the last bound altar and Crywolf falls.
  • The game shows the barrier around the statue as one to five altars are bound.

The colors of an altar

  • Blue, turning: free, or an Elf is binding it.
  • Gold, turning both ways, with sparks: bound.
  • Red: out of contracts, or in Balgass's hands.

What the game tells you

  • [name] is trying to connect to altar [n]To the whole map: an Elf started a contract.
  • You will be connected to the altar in 5 second (s)To her, with the next line: stand still.
  • Do not move until the connection is completeMoving even one cell cancels it.
  • Connected to the altar [n]To her: the altar is bound.
  • [name] connected to altar [n]To the whole map, at the same moment.
  • Number of connections: [n], Life of the statue: [hp]To the map whenever the number of bound altars changes.
  • The barrier of the sacred wolf statue was createdThe first altar is bound.
  • The barrier of the sacred wolf statue has disappearedNo altar is bound any more.
  • Connection to altar [n] has been canceledTo her: she moved, died, left the map or lost her connection.
  • Connection period to pedestal [n] has not started yetSomeone lost this altar less than 10 seconds ago: wait.
  • The position to connect to altar [n] is wrongShe isn't on the altar's own tile.
  • Altar [n] has already been connected more than 2 timesThe altar has used up its two contracts.
  • The connection requires an Elfa level 260 or higherNot an Elf, under level 260, or the altar is taken, being bound or used up.

The messages count the altars from 0: altar 1 on this page is "altar 0" in the game. The last one shows for every refusal, even to an Elf above level 260 who clicked a taken altar.

The heroes of Crywolf

The five best MVP scores on the map are listed with their class at the end. With fewer than five scorers the list fills up with players who scored nothing.

If the fortress holds

Until the next Crywolf, on both servers:

  • Some Chaos Machine mixes get 10% more: the Devil Square Invitation runs at 90% instead of 80%. The +10 to +15 upgrades, Fruit and the custom recipes don't change. Chaos Goblin guide
  • Monsters spawn with 80% of their HP, on every map (not in Crywolf during the event).
  • The fortress keeps its safe zone.

If Crywolf falls

  • No penalty: experience and drops stay as they are.
  • The win's bonuses are gone until the fortress is held again.
  • The fortress loses its safe zone and its NPCs take on the look of an occupied town until the next Crywolf.
  • The MVP experience is still paid, a tenth of it.

The notice board in the game still shows the original numbers (monsters 10% weaker, 5% on the invitations): on ThunderMU the server gives the values above.

Questions

FAQ

When is Crywolf on ThunderMU?

Every Saturday at 20:00 server time, 21:00 during summer time (always 18:00 UTC). The warnings start at 20:00, the altars open at 20:06, the battle runs from 20:08 to 20:23, the army rushes the statue at 20:13 and Balgass comes at 20:18.

How do Elves bind the Crywolf altars?

Only an Elf of level 260 or higher can bind an altar, from 20:06 until the battle ends and not while riding a Fenrir. Stand on the altar's own tile, click it, confirm and stand still for 5 seconds. Moving one cell, dying, leaving the map or disconnecting breaks the contract. Each altar takes two contracts a night and after one breaks nobody can bind it for 10 seconds.

How do you win or lose Crywolf?

Kill Balgass before 20:23 and the fortress is held. Crywolf falls if no altar is bound at 20:08, if the last bound altar is lost during the battle or if Balgass is still alive at 20:23. The Wolf Statue itself can't be attacked: its barrier is the HP of the bound Elves.

What does Balgass drop in Crywolf?

Eight items for the player who dealt him the most damage: level 380 weapons of every class, +0 to +9, half of them with one or two excellent options, and 50 Goblin Points. Each of the twelve Dark Elves drops three of the same weapons for its top damage dealer.

What are the Crywolf rewards?

Everyone in Crywolf gets MVP experience by rank: 2,800,000, 11,200,000, 16,800,000 or 25,200,000 on a win and a tenth of it on a loss. On a win every Elf still bound and the five best scores get a Jewel of Bless and until the next Crywolf some Chaos Machine mixes, like the Devil Square Invitation, get +10% and monsters spawn with 80% of their HP. A loss brings no penalty.

How do I get to Crywolf?

Open Move (M) and pick Crywolf: level 300 and 2,700 Zen. Or walk in through the east gate of Valley of Loren. Crywolf runs on the Castle Siege server and you arrive on its east side, next to Apostle Devin.

What monsters live in Crywolf?

273 monsters of level 97 to 134: Hammer, Lance and Bow Scouts near the fortress, then Werewolves, Scout and Werewolf Heroes, Balram and Soram further north. All of them can drop the Fenrir materials (Splinter of Armor, Bless of Guardian, Claw of Beast), 0.005% each. They leave the map during the event.
